1. What was it about Comphy sheets that you liked? What sold you on them?
We liked the fact that you sent us a set of sheets, fully refundable, that we could actually try for ourselves. Suppliers that send a sample pillowcase cannot really expect someone to make a purchasing decision based on that. We were sold after sleeping on them. We slept on them for about a month and had the luxury to try different combinations of blankets and comforters to understand how we would make our beds up for all four seasons. They washed well and are very easy to care for. No more ironing, we use a steamer to remove the wrinkles on the Pillow cases and duvet covers and we are ready to go. We are also a small Bed and Breakfast so we can order the quantities we need and not be stuck in the position of ordering more than we could possibly use, due to minimum order quantities.
2. Did you know about the retail program when you first put the sheets on your beds?
Yes, we were told about the program but we were more focused on getting the most comfortable sheets on our beds for our guests while removing issues we were having with supplier quantity constraints. We had really not been too successful with our gift shop to date, but these sheets sell themselves. We are excited to have our guests ask for more details and to place orders before they check-out.
3. Did you ever think that the Retail Sales would pay for the Operational sheets purchased?
We thought it was a good idea that could develop into a topic of conversation in the dining room at breakfast and maybe a few sales. To have multiple sales within the first month of having the sheets in our rooms was way more than we had expected.
4. Do you have the information about the sheets displayed at your inn?
We have the COMPHY card displayed near our check-in area (not even in every room) so that it is seen as they come and go during their stay. It is our routine to ask our guest how they rested, and the comments flow at breakfast on how wonderful the beds were and the best sleep they have had in a long time.
5. Do you find having sheets on hand makes it easier to sell the sheets? Or do your guest’s prefer the drop ship program?
Our guests prefer the Drop ship. It is special to get a gift for home remembering the experience that was had with us.
6. Do all your employees have the information to sell the sheets to your guests?
We are a very small property (3 rooms) so we do not have a lot of staff. The Innkeeper loves the discussions that start as he serves breakfast in the morning.
7. Do you list on your website that the sheets are available for purchase?
We are just getting started with the program. Since we were a little unsure with our previous gift store experience, we are experimenting with various options. We have included a reply mechanism on our thank you emails for guests to order.
8. Would it be ok if your fellow innkeepers call you for your promotion ideas?
We would love to talk to anyone about our experience with the sheets.
9. Any extra advice or suggestions you could give fellow Innkeepers?
We found that the sheets do slightly change the way you might make up your beds, as double sheeting is a little warmer than traditional sheets. We suggest that you experiment with your own sleeping experience for a month to know what might best work for your guests. We also found that the fabric tends to hold a bit more static, making ironing a chore. A Steamer seems to work best to give a great look to the Duvet covers and Pillow cases and is much faster than the steaming and ironing one might do for 100% cotton Pillow cases and duvet covers.
