National Public Sleeping Day

National Public Sleeping Day

It’s Nap Time!

Yes, you read that right! February 28th is National Public Sleeping Day. And at Comphy we love anything that promotes extra sleep. Whether you’re napping on a public bench or in the privacy of your own home, we can all agree on the healing powers of a good nap.

Key components for quality napping:

Time.

Carving out the time for healthy habits is often the most difficult task. Be sure the time you find for a nap isn’t too late in the day as it can impact your sleep at night. Never nap within three hours of your bedtime and for most people it’s best not to nap past 3pm.

Length.

The National Sleep Foundation says it’s typically best to keep a nap to under 25 minutes so that you don’t get too deep into your sleep patterns and wake up groggy. But if you find yourself with a gloriously large chunk of time, go for a full 90+ minutes so that you can complete a full REM cycle.

Comfort.

If you’re the kind of person that can sleep anywhere, then February 28th is your day! For the rest of us (and the other days of the year!) be sure to choose a place and atmosphere that promotes sleep. Cozying up with the right Comphy blanket can make all the difference.

Sleep Aids.

Some people do better with white noise machines, earplugs, or eye pillows to set the right sleep mood. Try a Comphy Eye Pillow Kit to induce a soothing sleep environment.

Termperature.

According to The National Sleep Foundation, it’s ideal to have your temperature between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit for the best sleep.

Go for it.

Sometimes the most important part about napping is just deciding to do it. There will always feel like there’s something better to do but sleep is such an important health priority that we say sleep when and where you can!
